The president of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has visited apparel giant Luen Thai Holdings Corp and congratulated the firm on its success in promoting the country's clothing industry.

She met with the company's president, Willie Tan, and was updated on industry developments during her tour of the firm's large plant in the Clark Special Economic Zone in the central Luzon region.

Highlighted during the meeting were the initiatives of the company in preparing for the quota elimination in 2005 in partnership with all of its supply chain partners and in coordination with the local and national governments.

Luen Thai Holdings Corp is the holding company of seven manufacturing companies which employ more than 6,000 people and produce apparel for major international names such as Dillard's, Liz Claiborne, Polo Ralph Lauren and The Limited.
