PTC is to make its ThingWorx Internet of Things (IoT) technology available on the SAP HANA platform after joining the SAP PartnerEdge programme as a partner that designs, develops and builds software integrated with SAP solutions.

"By working with SAP, we are able to extend our leading IoT capabilities to a larger network of customers and partners, further enabling IoT innovation," says Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO, PTC.

PTC recently launched ThingWorx on the SAP App Center, where it will be marketed to SAP customers and partners. The solution provides IoT application development and analytics capabilities as well as innovative augmented reality functionality, powered by Vuforia.

ThingWorx is comprised of a rapid application development platform, connectivity, machine learning anomaly detection, industrial connectivity, and augmented reality. According to PTC, these capabilities combine to deliver a comprehensive IoT technology stack that enables companies to securely connect assets, quickly create applications, and innovate new ways to capture and deliver value.

As an SAP partner, PTC is granted access to all relevant SAP technologies in one simplified framework under a single, global contract.

Earlier this month SAP said it was partnering with global management consultant Accenture to develop a "next-generation" fashion management solution to enable vertical integration across retail, wholesale and manufacturing channels.
