Active apparel maker Quiksilver has appointed Franck Riboud, chairman and chief executive officer of Groupe Danone to its board of directors.

Groupe Danone, headquartered in France, is a $13 billion multinational food production company that markets brands such as Danone dairy products, Evian water and LU.

Robert B McKnight, Jr, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Quiksilver, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Franck to our board of directors. Danone is recognised as one of the strongest and most successful multinational companies in the world today. Franck's expertise in the marketing and distribution of a diverse portfolio of consumer oriented products and brands will be extremely valuable as we continue to develop Quiksilver's international operating structure and further expand our global reach."

Franck Riboud was also recently named to the board of L'Oreal.
