Surf-themed apparel company Quiksilver Inc has posted strong results for the first quarter of 2005.

Net revenue for the first quarter rose 34 per cent to $342.9 million compared to revenue of $256.1m in the first quarter of 2004.

First-quarter net income rose 55 per cent to $14.2m compared to $9.2m in the same quarter last year.

The company upped its net revenue forecast for 2005, and now predicts revenue in the range of $1.48 billion-$1.50bn.

Quiksilver designs, produces and distributes clothing, accessories and related products under labels such as Quiksilver, Roxy, DC Shoes, Raisins, Radio Fiji and Island Soul.
