Luxury brand and retailer Ralph Lauren Corporation has named John Hooks, the former deputy chairman of Giorgio Armani, as its new group president in Europe.

Hooks is replacing Brian Duffy, who has been responsible for growing the company's business in Europe for the past eight years.

"I am confident that under John's direction we will continue to build on our strengths as a premier multi-brand, multi-channel company in Europe," said Roger Farah, president and COO, Ralph Lauren Corporation.

Hooks, who will report to Roger Farah and Ralph Lauren, played a significant role in the development of a successful multi-channelled, global business at Giorgio Armani SpA.

His experience in building luxury brands began with a 14-year tenure at Gruppo GFT in Italy. In 1995, he assumed the role of worldwide commercial and retail director of Jil Sander AG. And in 2000 he joined Giorgio Armani as group commercial and marketing director, rising quickly to assume the role of deputy chairman.
