Indian textiles and apparel manufacturer Raymond Ltd has temporarily suspended operations at its textile manufacturing plant in Gujarat, after receiving a closure notice for allegedly violating pollution rules.

The notice came from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). Raymond has since filed a revocation application with the authorities concerned, and said it expects the "an early resolution" to the matter.

According to Raymond, similar notices have been issued to other manufacturing units operating within its own premises.

The company saw its third-quarter net profit plummet 74% to INR12.84bn (US$239.1m) earlier this year because of higher costs and a "challenging" trading environment. Net sales increased 10% to INR10.49bn over INR9.53bn the prior year.
