Australian sporting goods retailer Rebel Sport Ltd today said group sales revenue has lifted eight per cent to $A68m ($US35.6m) for the past four months of the current financial year.

This included revenue from the four Glue lifestyle stores as well as the bicycle wholesale business Sportz Australasia.

Core Rebel Sport stores total sales increased 9.5 per cent and 3.2 per cent on a same store basis.

Chairman Anthony Whatmore told the annual general meeting today May and June were up against extremely strong pre-GST sales in the previous year.

"In addition, the slow start to the ski season has resulted in a 24 per cent decrease in ski hire revenue compared to last year's bumper season," he said.

"If ski hire revenue is excluded, sales at the Rebel Sport core business grew by 10.3 per cent for the four months and 3.9 per cent on a same store basis.
