Leather apparel maker Deda Deri has been contracted to export 10,000 pieces of red leather underwear in time for Christmas.

The shipment, of which 5000 pieces will go to Russia and 5000 to Germany, is typical for this time of year according to director general Abdullah Deda.

The company, which typically exports about US$3.5m worth of leather goods annually, began exporting leather underwear in 1995.

Its main export markets are Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and France.
