Dozens of workers at the failed Cassells and Stiletto clothing chains are pinning all their hopes on a warehouse fire sale to recoup cash they are owed.

Around 110 workers at the two closed chains have been left with an estimated $A300,000 in entitlements. Now they are hoping that remaining stock to be sold at a fire sale in Brisbane's West End will be enough to cover what they are owed.

A spokesman from Cassells predicts the stock will sell, as most items are being offered at half price or less. The clothing chains are selling everything from the stores, including kettles and vacuum cleaners.

For more than half a century, the Cassells chain was the mainstay of the Queensland fashion industry. The brand built its image on dressing women over 40 in affordable, classic clothes.
