Reebok is set to become the first company to manufacture and launch replica cricket clothing in India.

Reebok India Company has announced it is to introduce a range of garments modelled on the T-shirts, caps, tracksuits and sweaters worn by the Indian cricket team, in February 2002. The items will be sold under the Reebok brand, and will sport the same look as the ones worn by the cricketers in terms of quality and design.

Reebok India managing director, Siddhartha Varma, said the move was a logical progression from the company's recent agreement with the Board for Control of Cricket in India to manufacture apparel for the Indian cricket team.

The range will be promoted through Reebok's exclusive chain of 85 stores. India's replica market is still in its infancy, but huge demand is predicted across this growing sector.
