Reebok International executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Angel Martinez, has today announced his resignation from the company stating personal reasons as well as a desire to explore other business opportunities.

Martinez will remain in his current position through June and will continue to serve as a marketing consultant to Reebok throughout 2001. He is also leading an internal and external search for his successor

Throughout his 21-year career at Reebok, Martinez made significant contributions to both Reebok and Rockport. During his five-year tenure as president and CEO of The Rockport Company (1994 - 1998), Martinez successfully repositioned Rockport from an "older" men's shoe company to a more youthful brand.

Among his many accomplishments at Reebok, Martinez can claim to be the creator of the Reebok Human Rights Program, a human rights platform that was established in 1988 to act as a criterion against which buying decisions are made and corporate reputations are measured.
