Japanese retail sales have fallen for the second month in a row, with clothing sales hampered by unseasonably warm weather, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reported.

Sales slipped 0.3% year-on-year during October, with demand weakening for clothing, cars, and food . On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales dropped 0.3% from September.

Clothing sales dropped 3.5% on a year-on-year basis, while department store sales were down 1.3% and supermarket sales fell 3.2%.
