Sweden's second-largest apparel retailer, Lindex, has become the first major Scandinavian retailer to use Avery Dennison's Pathfinder price markdown solution.

A one-piece scan, print and apply markdown solution, Pathfinder has replaced Lindex's previous "red pen" price markdown process.

Slow and labour-intensive, the old process led to late and missed markdowns, resulting in lost opportunities to sell an item during the first markdown.

Lindex says it is now able to complete markdowns in one-fifth of the time with near-100% completion and accuracy, improving sales and margins.

"As markdown speed and accuracy increased, there was an easing of the day-to-day workload, freeing up store personnel to spend more time focused on customer service and resulting in increased sales," explains Rino Corengia, CFO at Lindex Sweden.

The system has so far been rolled out to 210 stores in Sweden.
