The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' December 2006 sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

American Eagle Outfitters, which operates 908 teen specialty stores in the US and Canada,  reported a 13% boost in December sales. Net sales moved ahead 20% to $522.4m during the month.

Teen specialty chain Hot Topic experienced a 5.1% decline in same-store sales during December as total sales declined 1% to $131m.

Comparable-store sales at sports-focused retailer Zumiez were ahead 11.5% during the final month of 2006, versus a 20.9% leap in the prior-year month. Total sales were up 40.5% to $62.5m.

Value-priced urban retailer Citi Trends reported that same-store sales decreased 0.1% during the five-week December period, while net sales advanced 17.8% to $60.4m during the month.

Women's apparel retailer Cache said same-store sales were up 4% during the month as net sales increased 4% to $39.1m from $37.7m a year ago.

Specialty retailer Wilsons The Leather Experts said total sales were $75.7m compared to $110.2m last year. Same-store sales decreased 23.1% compared to last year's 7.7% fall.
 
Apparel chain New York & Company's net sales leapt 8.8% to $192.8m. This compared to $177.1m a year ago. Same-store sales, meanwhile, grew 3.2% compared to an increase of 10.9% last year.

The Wet Seal, which caters for young women, said same-store sales edged up1.3% in December compared with an increase of 38.5% in 2005. Net sales were $76.5m compared with $69.9m previously, an increase of 9.4%.

Diversified consumer group Limited Brands reported that same-store sales increased 4% as net sales increased 6% to $2.03bn from $1.91bn the year before.

At Children's goods seller The Children's Place Retail Stores, total sales increased 11% to $318.5m from $286.6m. Same-store sales grew  5%.

The Buckle said net sales increased 7.2% to $88.8m from $82.8m in 2005. Same-store sales at the company, which sells apparel, shoes and accessories, increased 3.6%.

Casual wear retailer Pacific Sunwear of California said total sales increased 3.3% to $250.5m from $242.4m last year. Same-store sales slipped 3.2%.
 
At lifestyle firm Guess??, total sales in December increased 14.5% to $103.4m. Same-store sales, meanwhile, jumped 13%.

Women's wear company Chico's reported that total sales increased 11.9% to $193.2m from $172.6m previously, as same-store sales decreased 2%.

Dress Barn said its same-store sales increased 5% in December while total sales increased 9% to $159.8m at the apparel retailer from $147.2m a year ago.

Value store chain firm Stein Mart said total sales increased 2.1% in December to $216.2m from $211.8m the year before. On a same-store basis, sales were static.

Fashion specialty chain Nordstrom said preliminary net sales were $1.27bn during December, marking a 9.8% increase from last year's $1.16bn sales. Same-store sales grew 9%.

Juniors' retailer Deb Shops said same-store sales slipped 7.5% during the month and total sales decreased 4% to $41m from $42.7m.

Specialty children's retailer Gymboree's net sales increased 22% to $105.3m from $86.6m in 2005. Same-store sales increased 15% compared to last year's 16% increase.

JC Penney, which operates department stores and sells through catalogues and online, said same-store department store sales increased 2.6% compared with a 2.2% increase last year. Total department store sales increased 4.2% for the five weeks. Total direct sales slid 1.4% for the period compared with a 4.3% increase last year.

At apparel and furnishings retailer Dillard's, total sales decreased 3% to $1.23bn from $1.27bn while same-store sales decreased 5%.

Department store firm The Bon-Ton Stores said total sales in the five weeks increased 147% to $642m from $259.9m a year ago while Bon-Ton same-store sales decreased 5/8%/

Federated Department Stores said same-store sales increased 4.4% as net sales decreased 8.5% to $5bn.

The Kohl's chain of department stores said net sales rose 11.2% as same-store sales increased 3%.

Retailer Saks reported a 13% rise in total monthly sales to $444m as same-store sales grew 11.1%.

Off-price retailer TJX Companies enjoyed a 10% hike in net sales to $2.5bn from $2.3bn a year ago. Same-store sales grew 6%.

Large-size women's fashion apparel, footwear and accessories retailer United Retail Group reported a 2% net sales decrease to $55.7m during December 2006, from $56.6m in the same month last year. Same-store sales decreased 2% for the month versus a 16% increase in December 2005.

Branded name apparel, accessories, cosmetics and footwear provider Stage Stores reported that total sales for the five-week period ended 30 December 2006 increased 11.8% to $270.5m, while same-store sales increased 2.2% compared to an increase of 7.3% last year.

Tailored clothing retailer JoS. A. Bank Clothiers announced that its total sales for December increased 12.1% to $102.1m, compared with $91.1m in December 2005. Same-store sales increased 1.4% for the month.

Mothers Work, a maternity apparel retailer, announced said that net sales for the month of December 2006 increased approximately 0.3% to approximately $55.6m, while same-store sales for the month decreased 0.3% versus a comparable store sales increase of 3.5% for December 2005.

Urban Outfitters, a consumer products company, announced that total sales for the calendar month of December grew by 15%, while total company same-store sales declined by 5% versus a combined 'comp' increase of 6% for the same period last year.

Regional US chain Gottschalks announced that same-store sales for the month of December 2006 increased 2.1% from the prior year, and that total sales for the month increased 1.2% to $133.1m from $131.5m in December 2005.

Upmarket retailer Neiman Marcus reported a 7.1% increase in comparable revenues from $637m to $682m for the five weeks ended 30 December. Total revenues in the same period went from $637m to $689m, marking an 8.3% growth.

Casual and active wear company Aeropostale said same-store sales were up 1.7% in the December period compared to last year's 11.4% spurt. Meanwhile, net sales grew 12.6% to $266.7m from $236.8m a year ago.

Value-priced neighbourhood retailer Family Dollar Stores posted a 1.2% comparable increase for December as net sales increased 5.7%.

Casual lifestyle outfitter Abercrombie & Fitch reported a 1% drop in same-store sales during the month. Net sales, however, were up 15% to $603.6m from $525.9m in 2005.

Off-price retailer Ross Stores' December net sales grew 8% to $729m from $672m as same-stores increased 2%.

Accessories seller Claire's Stores reported that total sales increased 7% to $247.84m from $231.45m. Same-store sales were static.
