The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' February sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

Retail group Limited Brands said February 2006 net sales increased 4% to US$635.8m, compared to $611.4m in the same month in 2005. Same-store sales for the month increased by 5% compared to February last year.

Fashion retailer Gap's net sales for February slipped 6% to $865m, compared with the same month last year. Same-store sales declined 6.9% compared to last year's four-week period.

Fashion company Deb Shops said net sales for February 2006 increased 6.5% to reach $25.3m, up from $23.7m for the month in 2005. Same-store sales increased 5.1% for February, compared to the same month last year

Women's apparel company Cache said total sales for the month decreased 2%, from $20.6m last year, to $20.0m in February 2006. Same-store sales for the month of February fell 3% compared to last year.

Children's clothing retailer Gymboree said net sales grew 20% to $53.5m in February, up from $44.6m a year earlier. Same-store sales for the same month increased 18% compared to last year.

Suit specialists Men's Wearhouse announced net sales of $121.5m for February, an increase of 4.9% compared to $115.8m last year. Same-store sales for February increased 0.9% in the US and 5.3% in Canada, compared to the same period last year.

Clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters said net sales for February 2006 increased 12% to reach $143.1m, compared to $127.7m in 2005. The company posted a same-store sales increase of 6%, compared to the same month last year.

Women's wear group United Retail posted a net sales increase of 11% to $119.4m for February 2006, compared to sales of $107.9m in the same month last year. Same-store sales increased by 12% for the month, compared to last year.

Mall-based retailer Hot Topic reported sales of $48.4m for the month, a 5% increase on February 2005. Same-store sales decreased 8.4% for the month of February, compared to last year.

Casual and active apparel retailer Aeropostale said net sales increased by 14.1% to $67.8m, compared to $59.4m in February 2005. Same-store sales for the month increased by 5.4% compared to last year.

Family apparel retailer Citi Trends said February net sales increased 34% from last year to reach $30.3m, with same-store sales increasing 11.7% compared to the same period in 2005.

Skater specialist Zumiez said net sales in February 2006 increased 52.9% to $14.4m, as same -tore sales increased 28% during the same period, compared to last year.

Men's apparel retailer JoS A Bank posted net sales of $33.8m for the month, an increase of 18.2% when compared to February 2005. Same-store sales for the company increased 3.3% for the month, compared to the same period in the previous year.

Women's apparel and accessories retailer Chico's net sales increased 18.2% to $98.7m for February 2006, compared to $83.5m in the same period last year. Same-store sales increased 5.7% over February, compared to the same four-week period in 2005.

Casual apparel, footwear and accessories retailer The Buckle said that net sales for the month of February increased by 4.6% to $34.1m, compared to sales of $32.6m in the corresponding four-week period of 2005. Same-store sales declined 0.4% for February 2006, when compared to the same month last year.

Women's speciality retailer Ann Taylor posted total net sales increases of 18.4% February 2006, at $130m, compared to $109.8m during the same month in 2005. Same-store sales for the company increased 5.6% for the month, compared to February 2005.

The Children's Place, a retailer for children, said net sales for the past month increased 7% to $113.8m, compared to February 2005. Same-store sales increased just 1% for February 2006, compared to last year's period.

Career and casual apparel retailer The Dress Barn posted net sales for February 2006 of $77.4m, from $71.2m in the same period the previous year, representing a sales increase of 9%, with same-store sales increasing 5% for the same period.

Mid-price women's apparel retailer New York & Company said that net sales for February 2006 decreased 6.1% to $80.6m, compared to $85.8m in the prior year period. Same-store sales also declined, by 12.8% for the month, compared to the same period last year.

Maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work said net sales for the month of February increased by 4.8%, at $45.7m, compared to $43.6m in 2005. Same -tore sales for the month fell 2.2% compared to the same period last year.

Department store retailer Stage Stores said February net sales increased slightly, by 0.9% to $93.1m - from $92.3m in the same month in 2005. Same-store sales declined by 0.9% in the month of February, compared to last year's corresponding period.

Young women's specialty retailer Wet Seal said net sales were at $36.1m for the month of February 2006 - an increase of 20.8% compared with $29.9m for the same month in 2005. Same-store sales increased 29.3% for the month, compared with an increase of 16.4% for the same period a year ago.

Discount shoe retailer Payless ShoeSource said net sales for the month were $179m, a decrease of 9.8% compared to $182.5m last year. Same-store sales decreased too, by 0.8% for February.

Ross Stores said net sales rose 14% in February 2006, at $365m - compared with $311m for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 6% in comparison to last year's figures for February.

Women's clothing retailer Christopher & Banks said net sales for the month were $28.9m, an increase of 2% from $28.4m in February last year. Monthly same-store sales declined 6%, compared with the same period last year.

Wilsons The Leather Experts said net sales were at $29.7m for the month, falling 8.5% from $33.2m in February 2005. Same-store sales, which decreased 12.7% in January, fell 9.3% for the month compared to February 2005.

Discount women's apparel retailer Cato same-store sales fell 7% during February, compared to last year. Net sales for the month fell 1% at $64.2m - compared to sales of $64.6m during February 2005.

At jewellery and accessories retailer Claire's Stores, total sales rose 3% and same-store sales increased 4% during the month, compared to February 2005. Net sales for the month were $90.93m, an increase from $88.13m for the comparable four-week period the year before.

Fashion retailer Stein Mart said that February sales, of $97.2m, were down 7.7% from sales of $105.3m in February of 2005. Same-store sales for the month fell 8.5% compared to last year.

Apparel retailer The Talbots February 2006 net sales decreased 2% to $91.4m, compared to $93m sales for the period last year. Same-store sales decreased 6% for the month, compared to last year.
