The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' July sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

Leather outerwear, accessories and apparel retailer Wilsons The Leather Experts Inc said net sales increased 6.0 per cent to $19.5 million compared to $18.4 million in the same period last year. Same-store sales increased 8.7 per cent compared to an increase of 21.1 per cent a year ago.

Lifestyle products company American Eagle Outfitters Inc said net sales increased 25.4 per cent to $175.0 million compared to $139.6 million last year. Same-store sales increased 17.1 per cent during the month.

Casual and active apparel retailer Aeropostale Inc said net sales increased 18.0 per cent to $83.9 million compared to $71.1 million a year ago, while same-store sales decreased 4.2 per cent compared to last year's increase of 13.8 per cent.

Plus-size fashion retailer United Retail Group Inc said net sales increased 15 per cent to $31.5 million from $27.3 million last year. Same-store sales increased 17 per cent.

Top maternity apparel business Mothers Work Inc said net sales increased 3.2 per cent to $43.3 million compared to $42.1 million in 2004, while same-store sales decreased 4.3 per cent compared to last year's decrease of 2.6 per cent.

Family retailer Stage Stores Inc said net sales increased 6.1 per cent to $94.5 million from $89.1 million last year. Same-store sales increased 2.4 per cent compared to a decrease of 7.8 per cent a year ago.

Leading men's apparel seller JoS A Bank Clothiers Inc said net sales increased 15.3 per cent to $27.1 million compared with $23.5 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 0.5 per cent.

Value-priced women's fashion retailer The Cato Corporation said net sales increased 2 per cent to $56.8 million from $55.5 million last year, with same-store sales decreasing 4 per cent.

Lifestyle goods retailer Guess? Inc said net sales increased 16.6 per cent to $45.3 million from $38.8 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 5.6 per cent.

Trendy retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co said net sales increased 33 per cent to $191.0 million compared to $143.7 million in 2004, while same-store sales increased 22 per cent.

Specialty retail brands seller The Gymboree Corporation said net sales from retail operations increased 13 per cent to $43.9 million compared to $39.0m last year. Same-store sales increased 10 per cent compared to an increase of 12 per cent in 2004.

Women's specialty retailer AnnTaylor Stores Corporation said net sales increased 7.5 per cent to $139.1 million from $129.4 million a year ago. Same-store sales decreased 3.5 per cent compared to a decrease of 2.1 per cent last year.

Discount store retailer TJX Cos said net sales increased 6 per cent to $1.1 billion from $1.0 billion in 2004, with same-store sales decreasing 1 per cent.

Children's apparel and toy seller Children's Place Retail Stores Inc said net sales increased 70 per cent to $102.9 million, with same-store sales increasing 8 per cent compared to a 14 per cent increase last year.
 
Discount retailer Stein Mart Inc said net sales increased 7 per cent to $87.5 million from $81.8 million a year ago, while same-store sales increased 5.2 per cent.

Teen retailer Wet Seal Inc said net sales increased 14.8 per cent to $37.6 million from net sales of $32.7 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased almost 60 per cent.

Family footwear chain Payless ShoeSource said net sales decreased 3.5 per cent to $177.9 million from $184.4 million in 2004. Same-store sales decreased 2.4 per cent.

Teen apparel retailer Deb Shops Inc said net sales increased 2.5 per cent to $24.5 million from $23.9 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 2 per cent.

Women's clothing retailer Christopher & Banks Corp said net sales increased 12 per cent to $41.1 million from $36.8 million a year ago, while same-store sales were static from last year's.

Specialty retailer The Neiman Marcus Group, Inc has said net sales increased 7.3 per cent to $232 million from $216 million last year, while same-store sales increased 8.8 per cent to $230 million from $211 million in 2004.     

Apparel and home furnishings retailer Dillard's Inc said net sales totalled $543.9 million compared to $529.7 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 2 per cent.

Apparel retailer and cataloguer The Talbots Inc said net sales increased 20 per cent to $114.7 million from $95.7 million in 2004, with same-store sales increasing 11.3 per cent.

Specialty fashion retailer The Wet Seal Inc said net sales increased 14.8 per cent to $37.6 million from $32.7 million last year. Same-store sales increased 50.9 per cent compared with a 14.7 per cent increase a year ago.
