The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' March sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

Leather outerwear, accessories and apparel retailer Wilsons Leather Inc has reported a sales slide of 10 per cent to $32.6 million compared to $36.1 million a year ago. Same-store sales rose 29.2 per cent.

Teen clothing chain American Eagle Outfitters Inc posted a 38.5 per cent sales rise for to $184.6 million, compared to $133.3 million last year. Same-store sales increased 29.2 per cent.

Specialty mall-based retailer Hot Topic Inc saw sales rise 21 per cent to $59.7 million, while same-store sales grew 5.3 per cent.

Career and casual fashion retailer The Dress Barn Inc's sales rose 64 per cent to $119.8 million compared to $73.0 million for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 7 per cent in March.

Casual apparel retailer Aeropostale Inc saw sales grow 29.2 per cent to $87.1 million in, from $67.4 million last year. Same-store sales, increased 6.8 per cent
Plus-size retailer United Retail Group Inc said sales rose 7 per cent to 40 million from $37.3 million, while same-store sales increased 9 per cent.


Men's suits specialist Men's Wearhouse Inc said sales rose 17.7 percent to $159.5 million while same-store sales increased 15.3 per cent in the US and 1.1 per cent in Canada.

Maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work Inc has posted a 7.5 per cent sales increase to $52.9 million from $49.2 million in 2004. Same-store sales fell 3.0 per cent compared to a drop of 6.3 per cent last year.

Family retailer Stage Stores Inc has posted a 13 per cent sales increase  to $125.1 million from $110.2 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 12.1 per cent compared to an increase of 5.5 per cent last year.

Men's wear retailer JoS A Bank Clothiers Inc has posted an 18.4 per cent rise to $35.4 million compared to $29.9 million in 2004, while same-store sales grew 3.3 per cent and combined catalogue and internet sales rose 25.0 per cent.

Casual apparel, footwear and accessories retailer The Buckle Inc has reported a 13.3 per cent increase in sales for to $43.2 million from sales of $38.1 million in 2004. Same-store sales rose 8.0 per cent.

Specialty apparel retailer New York & Co's sales rose 6.2 per cent to $102.8 million from $96.8 million last year, while same-store sales grew 2.9 per cent, compared to a 13 per cent rise last year.

Juniors' apparel retailer Deb Shops Inc saw sales rise 9.7 per cent to $26.3 million for from $24.0 million last year, while same-store sales increased 10.2 per cent.

Specialty retailer The Wet Seal Inc said sales increased 5.4 per cent to $41.0 million, compared with sales of $38.9 million for the same period last year. Same-store sales increased 36.3 per cent compared with a decline of 21.1 per cent for the same period a year ago.

National specialty retailer The Talbots Inc said sales rose 4 per cent to $201.7 million from the $193.1 million reported in March 2004. Same-store sales increased 0.9 per cent for the month.

Limited Brands said sales totalled $766.1 million compared to net sales of $783.7 million last year, while same-store sales fell 7 per cent.

bebe stores inc said its sales rose 42.4 per cent to $49.7 million for 2005, an from sales of $34.9 million in 2004. Same-store sales rose 30.6 per cent compared to an increase of 20.5 per cent last year.

The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc said sales for rose 59 per cent to $154.7 million compared to sales of $97.1 million for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 10 per cent to a 17 per cent increase in 2004.

Fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom Inc said preliminary sales rose 6.7 per cent to $657.3 million from sales of $616.3 million last. Same-store sales increased 5.5 percent.

Footwear retailer Shoe Carnival Inc said sales rose 18.4 per cent to $67.1 million from $56.6 million the year before, while same-store sales grew 13 per cent.

Shoe retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc said sales increased 1.4 per cent to $270.2 million from $273.9 million last year while same-store sales rose 1.4 per cent.

Off-price company Ross Stores Inc said sales rose 13 per cent to $456 million from $404 million last year, while same-stores sales grew 7 per cent.

Off-price retailer TJX Cos said sales rose 6 per cent to $1.4 billion from $1.3 billion last year. Same-store sales increased 1 per cent,

Upmarket retailer Guess?, Inc said sales rose 15.2 per cent to $49.8 million from $43.2 million last year, Same-store sales grew 6.7 per cent.

S&K Famous Brands Inc has posted a 23.3 per cent sales increase to $24.0 million compared with $19.5 million last year. Same-store sales were up 22.4 per cent.

Pacific Sunwear of California has posted a 15 per cent sales increase to $120.1 million from last year's sales of $103.8 million. Same-store sales rose 4.8 per cent.

Goody's Family Clothing Inc has posted a 5 per cent fall in sales to $119.1 million from $125.7 million in 2004. Same-store sales plummeted 9.2 per cent.

Department store chain Kohl's Corporation reported a 9.4 per cent sales increase while same-store sales fell 1.0 per cent.

Upmarket retailer The Neiman Marcus Group Inc said sales rose 2.2 per cent to $350 million from $343m in 2004, while same-store sales grew 3.4 per cent to $348 million from $336 million.

Federated Department Stores Inc said sales grew 3.4 per cent to $1.359 billion compared to sales of $1.314 billion last year. On a same-store basis, sales also were up 3.4 percent.

Department store retailer The Bon-Ton Stores Inc said sales fell 4.0 per cent to $100.5 million compared to $104.6 million for the same period last year. Same-store sales fell 3.6 per cent.

Women's apparel chain The Talbots Inc said sales grew 4 per cent to $201.7 million from $193.1 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 0.9 per cent for the month.

Large-scale department store group JC Penney Co Inc said sales rose 0.8 per cent to $1.57 billion from $1.55 billion last year, while same-store sales rose 0.1 per cent.
