The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' October sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

Plus-size apparel retailer United Retail Group said net sales increased 9 per cent to $35.4 million from $32.5 million last year, while same-store sales grew 11 per cent.

Value apparel retailer Citi Trends said net sales increased 64.9 per cent to $22.7 million compared with $13.8 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 37.0 per cent compared with a 0.0 per cent increase last year.
 
Lifestyle retailer American Eagle Outfitters said net sales increased 22.7 per cent to $157.0 million from $127.9 million a year ago, while same-store sales increased 17.3 per cent.
 
Men's apparel retailer Men's Wearhouse said net sales increased 9.2 per cent to $132.3 million from $121.2 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 6.7 per cent at US locations and 1.5 per cent in Canada.

Casual and active apparel retailer Aeropostale said net sales increased 16.5 per cent to $83.9 million compared with $72.0 million. Same-store sales decreased 2.5 per cent compared with an increase of 9.1 per cent a year ago.
 
Federated Department Stores said net sales increased 92.9 per cent to $2.138 billion from $1.108 billion last in 2004. Same-store sales decreased 0.7 per cent.

Mall-based retailer Hot Topic said net sales increased 6 per cent to $59.5 million, while same-store sales decreased 5.7 per cent compared to a decrease of 3.8 per cent last year.

Family apparel and accessories retailer Stage Stores said net sales increased 17.9 per cent to $96.3 million from $81.7 million last year, while same-store sales increased 14.9 per cent compared to an increase of 1.8 per cent a year ago.

Mid-price family apparel company Goody's Family Clothing said net sales increased to $103.0 million from $96.4 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 6.8 per cent compared with a 2.5 per cent increase in 2004.

Men's clothing retailer JoS A Bank Clothiers said net sales increased 28.5 per cent to $37.0 million compared with $28.8 million last year, while same-store sales increased 16.2 per cent.

Regional department store chain Gottschalks said net sales increased 0.4 per cent to $44.0 million from $43.8 million in 2004. Same-store sales decreased 1.4 per cent.

Women's specialty retailer AnnTaylor Stores said net sales 11.7 per cent to $175.9 million from net sales of $157.4 million last year. Same-stores sales increased 1.2 per cent compared to a same-store sales increase of 6.2 per cent last year4.

Juniors fashion retailer Deb Shops said net sales increased 13.3 per cent to $25.9 million from $22.9 million in 2004, while same-store sales increased 12.8 per cent.
 
Multi-channel specialty apparel retailer Charming Shoppes said net sales increased 22 per cent to $206.7 million from $168.8 million last year. Same-store sales increased 3 per cent.

National specialty apparel retailer The Talbots said net sales increased 3 per cent to $147.3 million from $143.1 million a year ago, while same-store sales decreased 3 per cent.

Fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom said preliminary net sales increased 8.7 per cent to $556.2 million from $511.9 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 6.4 per cent.

Big and tall men's apparel company Casual Male Retail Group said net sales increased 25.7 per cent to $93.8 million from $74.6 million last year, while same-store sales increased 3.7 per cent.

Off-price fashion retailer Stein Mart said net sales increased 2.4 per cent to $112.8 million from $110.1 last year, while same-store sales increased 2.4 per cent compared to a 1.4 per cent increase in 2004.
 
Specialty retailer The Wet Seal said net sales increased 20.6 per cent to $36.0 million from $29.8 million last year, while same-store sales increased 46.6 per cent compared with a decrease of 15.5 per cent in 2004.

Private-label retailer Chico's said net sales increased 31.8 per cent to $114.0 million from $86.5 million last year, while same-store sales increased 17.9 per cent.

Casual apparel retailer The Buckle said net sales increased 9.5 per cent to 39.2 million from sales of $35.8 million last year, while same-store sales increased 4.3 per cent.

Off-price company Ross Stores said net sales increased 18 per cent to $402 million from $342 million last year, while same-store sales increased 7 per cent.

Specialty athletic retailer Foot Locker said net sales increased 3.0 per cent to $1.4 million compared with $1.4 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 2.7 per cent.

Family footwear retailer Payless ShoeSource said net sales increased 1.1 per cent to $212.5 million from $210.1 million in 2004, while same-store sales increased 4.0 per cent.

Trendy retailer Abercrombie & Fitch said net sales increased 41 per cent to $189.2 million from $133.9 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 31 per cent.

Branded footwear retailer DSW said net sales increased 15.2 per cent to $302.2 million from $262.4 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 0.8 per cent.

Upscale apparel chain Harold's Stores said net sales increased 1.0 per cent to $23.3 million from $23.1 million last year, while company and full-line same-store sales decreased 1.5 per cent.

Women's clothing retailer bebe stores said net sales increased 10.5 per cent to $39.1 million from $35.4 million last year, while same-store sales increased 2.1 per cent compared with an increase if 30.6 per cent a year ago.

Retail group Saks said net sales decreased 10.8 per cent to $ 436.7 million from  $489.7 million last year, while same-store sales increased 4.6 per cent.  
 
Department store chain Dillard's said net sales increased 7 per cent to $488.3 million from $456.7 million in 2004. Same-store sales increased 8 per cent.
 
Department store retailer Bon-Ton Stores said net and same-store sales decreased 2.2 per cent to $94.7 million compared to $96.9 million a year ago.

Family apparel retailer JC Penney said total department stores increased 2.7 per cent, while same-store department sales increased 2.4 per cent compared with a 1.8 per cent increase last year.

Off-price giant TJX said net sales increased 4 per cent to $1.32 billion from $1.27 billion in 2004, while same-store sales decreased 2 per cent.

Retail group Neiman Marcus said net sales increased 6.2 per cent to $325 million from $306 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 7.0 per cent.        

Specialty women's apparel chain Cache said net sales increased 14.7 per cent to $19.5 million while same-store sales increased 11 per cent.
                                
Specialty apparel chain New York & Company said net sales increased 14.2 per cent to $76.6 million, compared to $67.1 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 4.7 per cent compared to an increase of 4.1 per cent last year.

Children's goods retailer The Children's Place said net sales increased 75 per cent to $154.3 million from $88.1 million in 2004. Same-store Children's Place store sales increased 13 per cent compared to a 21 per cent increase a year ago.

Value-priced footwear and accessories retailer Shoe Carnival said net sales increased 24.3 per cent to $49.8 million from sales of $40.0 million last year, while same-store sales increased 21.2 per cent.

National specialty retailer Dress Barn said net sales increased 58.7 per cent to $103.3 million compared to $65.1 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 10 per cent.

Wilson's The Leather Experts said net sales decreased 18.3 per cent to $29.9 million compared to $36.6 million last year. Same-store sales decreased 17.4 per cent compared to a 9.4 per cent increase last year.

Rural department store operator Stage Stores said net sales increased 17.9 per cent to $96.3 million from $81.7 million last year, while same-store sales increased 14.9 per cent compared to a 1.8 per cent increase last year.

Maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work said preliminary net sales increased 11.7 per cent to $48.2 million from $43.2 million a year ago, while same-store sales increased 1.7 per cent compared to a 1.0 per cent increase in 2004.

Children's apparel retailer Gymboree said net sales increased 23 per cent to $63.1 million compared with net sales of $51.3 million a year ago. Same-store sales increased 18 per cent compared to a 3 per cent increase in 2004.
