Calvin Klein Inc has named Robert Vignola as president of the Calvin Klein Collection, a new role to support the luxury brand's restructuring and planned expansion.

Based in the company's New York headquarters, Mr Vignola will be responsible for sales and merchandising and will report to Fabio Fusco, head of Confezioni Moda Italia Srl (CMI), the Trento, Italy-based licensee of Calvin Klein Collection men's and women's apparel and accessories.

CMI is currently being transferred to CKI by the Warnaco Group, in a deal that is due to close in mid-January.

Mr Fusco will remain with the company after the transfer is completed, and will report to Tom Murry, president and COO of Calvin Klein Inc.

"The appointment of Robert Vignola is an important step to enhance the structure of the business for global growth and intensified brand development," said Mr Murry.

Mr Vignola has over 30 years of experience in luxury and designer brand development, most recently as president and CEO of luxury accessories company Judith Leiber LLC.

He has also held senior positions at Burberry, Hartmarx Corporation, GFT Corporation, and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Calvin Klein Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of apparel maker Phillips-Van Heusen.
