UK industry training body Skillset has appointed Jude Ross as its new fashion and textiles nations manager, with responsibility for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Ross, a former buyer who has represented fashion and manufacturing companies across the UK, will take on a co-ordinating role, liaising with strategic partners from her base in Scotland and making sure employers are represented in the three devolved nations.

Skillset chief executive Dinah Caine described Ross as “a huge asset”, adding that she would be pivotal to driving forward the fashion and textiles skills and education agenda.

“It is essential that the fashion and textiles industries have access to the skills and products they need to maintain their world-class position,” she said.

“Skillset represents a broad range of creative businesses and this move will provide the creative industries with an even stronger voice.”

The UK’s 79,000 fashion and textiles businesses joined Skillset’s footprint in April this year.
