Sports apparel maker Russell Athletic on Thursday unveiled its newest technological development for the Spring 2003 Russell Athletic Power performance collection – a new fabric called Stretch-Power.

The Georgia-based company said the new fabric is a blend of polyester and spandex and designed for athletes seeking maximum flexibility during workouts as well as warmth and better support.

The line will be available in a variety of colours and styles for both men and women at several large retailers and also boasts a moisture management treatment that wicks sweat away from the body.

"The emergence of our affordable, high-tech Stretch-Power line gives athletes at all levels the opportunity to wear high-performing fabrications that work just as hard as the athletes themselves," said Tom Meyers, director of marketing for Russell Athletic.

"We envision Stretch-Power and the rest of our Power performance collection to be the staple in all athletes’ closets."

He added Stretch-Power is the second of five technological systems from its performance collection, with the first, Dri- Power, debuting in 2001.
