The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is expanding its Higg Index to include a new 'adoption and analytics' service as part of a collaboration with sustainability consultancy Anthesis.

The new Higg Index Adoption tool provides management and monitoring of supplier progress from end-to-end, in addition to interactive dashboards to illustrate engagement and adoption rates at an individual factory level.

"Organisations seeking to drive usage of the Higg Index in their supply chain will benefit from a coordinated Higg Adoption outreach to suppliers from around the globe," says Anthesis.

The Higg Index is a suite of tools that gauges environmental sustainability and allows suppliers, manufacturers, brands and retailers to evaluate materials, products, facilities and processes based on environmental choices.

Higg Index Advanced Analytics, meanwhile, is an aggregation and collation of Higg Index assessment responses, providing retailers, brands and manufacturers with actionable insights into the performance of their supply chains. The results and trends are displayed in dashboard form, with benchmarking provided for Higg Index scores and key metrics, designed to enable more strategic engagement with suppliers and their customers on key impact areas.

"Partnering with Anthesis to offer these services to our members and their supply chain partners helps us to drive Higg Adoption throughout the value chain, derive greater insight from Higg data and widen the scope of our impact within the apparel industry" says Amina Razvi, VP of membership at the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.

Anthesis says the new tools and services are aimed at complementing the Higg Index suite of tools to increase supply chain engagement and insight into supply chain impacts, and directly support the SAC's vision of an industry that produces no unnecessary environmental harm and has a positive impact on people and communities.

"We are immensely pleased to be able to offer these services to users of the Higg Index," says Matt Wood, partner at Anthesis. "It is very important that the value of the reported data is effectively realised. We have worked with SAC members for several years to maximise the value of supplier engagement so we have been well placed to develop this solution."
