The Pacific island of Saipan is about to lose its three remaining garment manufacturers following a drop in apparel orders from the US, local news reports said today (7 January).

Uno Moda Corp Garment Factory, US CNMI Development Corp and Marianas Garment Manufacturing plan to shut their factories by February, the Pacific Daily News said.

In 2008, eight garment factories, including United International Corp, shut down their operations with the loss of more than one a thousand jobs.
