Brazil-based textile company Santista Textil is considering the acquisition of textile makers in Colombia and Mexico, reported Dow Jones Newswire.

The company is also reportedly considering building a textile plant in Central America. Santista officials are in Medellin, Colombia attending the country's biggest textile fair, Colombiatex, and will possibly visit the Fabricato and Coltejer plants, also in Colombia.

In September 2005 just-style reported Santista's plans to open a new factory in Guatemala.

"The company's interest is to expand textile output in Mexico, Central America and Colombia, but at the moment there are no negotiations under way," a Santista spokesperson told the news agency.
