Shaanxi Province in north-west China has merged three major import and export firms into one large textile group, Asia Pulse reported.

The Shaanxi Textile Import and Export Corporation, the Shaanxi Garment Import and Export Corporation, and the Shaanxi Silk Import and Export Corporation are the three companies involved.

As a whole, they realized $2.506bn in import and export in 2000, including $2.329bn of export.

The new group, a wholly state-owed enterprise, has a registered capital of 120m yuan ($14.51m).
