The world's largest footwear maker, Yue Yuen Industrial (Holdings), on Friday posted a 9.5 per cent jump in third quarter net profit to $63 million from the year-ago period thanks to higher sales.

The company, which manufactures shoes for leading brands such as Nike, Reebok, Rockport, Timberland and Adidas, said sales for the quarter rose 11.5 per cent to $529.2m.

It added for the first nine months of 2002, its net profit edged up 2.2 per cent to $173.4m and sales climbed 4.9 per cent to $1.44 billion.
