UK value footwear retailer Shoe Zone has promoted its chief financial officer Nick Davis as CEO following a number of changes to the company's board of directors.

Davis, who was been with the business for 13 years, takes over from Anthony Smith who is stepping into the role of executive chairman as Ian Filby stands down from the board.

Shoe Zone says Davis is the "natural successor to drive the company's growth plans" and has been has been instrumental in helping to drive both organic and acquisitive growth as well as the successful entry into online fulfilment. He will continue to manage the finance function until a suitable replacement is appointed.

Other changes afoot include the appointment of Jeremy Sharman to non-executive deputy chairman, and general counsel Lee Hennell assuming the role of company secretary. A new non-executive director will also be appointed to the board.

The changes will come into effect immediately, although there will be a controlled handover until a new finance director has been appointed.
