Footwear retailer Shoebox New York has opened its first international store in Vietnam, selling one-third of its stock in the first three days of operation.

The store in Hanoi was opened on 28 November and is the first to launch under a master franchise agreement with local operator Le Gia Company.

The deal with Shoebox New York parent company NexCen Brands will see at least two stores open in Vietnam.

"We believe the Shoebox New York brand has significant growth potential both domestically and overseas," said Kenneth J Hall, CEO of NexCen Brands.

"Following this successful opening of our first Shoebox New York store in Vietnam, we look forward to further expanding this franchised brand in Asia and beyond."

NexCen Brands has already signed an agreement with Magneato International to open at least 20 Shoebox New York franchised stores in Korea.
