Diane Paccione has joined retailer Deb Shops as its new CEO, moving from Charming Shoppes where she was president of the company's Bensalem-based retail brands.

Paccione joins Deb Shops chairman Allen Questrom on the company's board of directors.

Questrom is a senior advisor to Lee Equity Partners, which acquired the company through an affiliate last October for US$395m.

Questrom hailed Paccione's "long track record of success" in retail apparel, adding that the board and Lee Equity were excited about the company's long-term prospects.

Meanwhile, Charming Shoppes' executive vice president and COO Joseph Barron has taken over Paccione's responsibilities while the company looks for a successor.

Paccione's position as president of the Bensalem-based businesses included overseeing the Fashion Bug, Catherines Plus Sizes, Lane Bryant Outlet and Petite Sophisticate Outlet brands.
