ShopKo Stores Inc (NYSE: SKO) has reported an increase of 0.7 per cent in consolidated sales for the five weeks ended December 30, 2000. Sales rose to $543.7m from $539.8m during the same period last year

The consolidated sales figures include $27.1m in sales from 17 new ShopKo stores which are currently not included in ShopKo's retail comparable store sales base.

ShopKo retail comparable store sales saw a decrease of 4.2 per cent compared to a 4.5 per cent increase for the same period last year.

For the combined months of November and December, consolidated sales increased 3.8 per cent to $870.5m from $838.3m for the same period last year, and retail comparable store sales decreased 0.4 per cent over a 3.2 per cent increase for the same period last year.

Consolidated sales for the cumulative 48 weeks ended December 30, 2000 increased 14.1 per cent to $3,253.8m from $2,851.8m for the same period last year. ShopKo retail comparable store sales increased 0.7 per cent compared to 6.1 per cent increase for the same period last year.
