The owner of UK retailer Arcadia Group is to take his popular Topshop chain to France, Italy and China, after a successful launch in New York.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed Arcadia founder Sir Philip Green's plans for expansion to just-style today (23 October).

"There aren't any definite sites yet, but we will have a presence in those countries," she added.

The most likely locations for the European openings are believed to be Paris and Milan.

Arcadia opened its first US store, in New York, back in April, and has been linked to a move into China for months.

Yesterday the company posted a 13% increase in full-year pre-tax profit, thanks to a solid sales performance across its brands, which also include Topman, BHS and Miss Selfridge.
