Footwear giant Skechers USA Inc on Thursday had a patent infringement lawsuit filed against it by skate shoe rival Heeling Sports Ltd in the latest round of a fierce four-month legal battle.

The move comes after Heelings was granted a patent for its design, which allows the user to go from a walk to a roll by transitioning weight onto wheels in the heel.

In a news release, Heeling said it had told Skechers in February that Skechers' new 3Wheelers would violate the pending patent when it was issued. But in March, Skechers hit back with a complaint claiming unfair competition and international interference with economic relations.

That prompted Heeling to make a complaint the following month alleging breach of confidential agreement and misappropriation of trade secrets relating to Skechers' 3Wheelers.
