Skechers USA Inc yesterday announced the successful opening of its third European flagship store in Paris on Thursday, May 17, 2001.

The Paris store follows the openings of the company's first two international flagship stores - Oxford Street, London, and in Oberhausen at Germany's largest indoor mall - in early Spring 2001.

"We are very pleased with the eagerness of the shoppers that crowded the store in its first week of business," began Michael Greenberg, Skechers USA president. "The Paris store is an exceptional opportunity for us to display our diverse array of product in a city renowned as the beacon of international fashion.''

"We believe that our European rollout is proving to be a tremendous success - both in terms of making an immediate footprint globally and bringing us one step closer to achieving our three- to five-year revenue goal, which is for international sales to grow to 25-30 per cent of total revenues."

The company is supporting its increased European presence with a pervasive marketing strategy that includes international print campaigns featuring singer Britney Spears for the Skechers Sport line and actors Matt Dillon and Rob Lowe for the Skechers Collection line.

In addition, the company has established Skechers S.a.r.l., a Swiss subsidiary that manages sales, marketing and operations outside of the United States. The company will oversee Skechers' independent distributors as well as its direct wholesale organisations throughout Europe.
