UK fashion group Slimma plc has changed its name to CDU in relation to the sale of its Slimma and Splendour brands to N Brown Group.

The GBP800,000 (US$1.3m) acquisition, announced last month, was conditional upon shareholder approval to change the company name.

Slimma plc, which also owns fashion brands including Frank Usher and Michel Amber, expects the name change will become effective before 21 February.

Slimma said in June it was unlikely to return to profitability during the current financial year after swinging to a first-half pre-tax loss.

The company posted pre-tax losses of GBP350,000 for the 26 weeks to 2 April 2010, compared with a profit of GBP2000 last time.
