The Irish national soccer team might have been phased out of the recent World Cup, but for Fruit of The Loom the squad remained one of the winners of the contest.

For during the course of the championships Fruit of the Loom factories in Derry and Donegal supplied more than ten million T-shirt blanks to companies who subsequently overprinted them with the logos of the various nations taking part in the World Cup competition.

"The additional demand created by 2002 World Cup went well beyond our wildest expectations," comments the group's senior vice president Joe Mullan.
