The government of Pakistan has signed an agreement with the Republic of Korea to set up a Garment Technology Training Centre (GTTC) in Karachi.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) will provide US$1.5m to the government of Pakistan to establish the GTTC.

It will also provide the necessary equipment, machinery, experts and technical guidance and invite Pakistani personnel for training in Korea.

GTTC will provide vocational training in garment technology, knitwear technology, apparel marketing, line supervisor and sewing machine operators.

Federal Minister for Textile, Rana Farooq Ahmad Khan, said that skill development and capacity building was a vital component of newly announced five year Textile Policy 2009-14.
