Italian sportswear company Lotto was on Monday reported to have enjoyed a 60 per cent leap in first half sales in Romania to 2.3 million euros from the year-ago period.

The Apropos newspaper quoted the firm's local representative, Sport System Development, as saying apparel sales generated the majority of that total with the remaining 40 per cent coming from footwear sales.

It added the firm currently operates five stores in the eastern European country and will add a further three stores later this year.
