Latest UK high street retail statistics show total sales volumes between August and September showed no growth for the second consecutive month.

Within predominantly non-food stores, all sectors showed growth apart from textile, clothing and footwear, which decreased by 0.5%.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said volume of retail sales in September was 2.4% higher than in September 2008.

Textile, clothing and footwear stores increased by 5.3%, the ONS said.

Sales volume in the three months July to September 2009 increased by 0.9% when compared to the previous three months.

Textile, clothing and footwear stores increased by 0.3% in the three months, added the ONS.
