Virtual Exhibit Highlights 40 Years of Fashionable Footwear

For four decades, shoe designer Stuart Weitzman has dazzled the world of high-fashion with his stunning footwear. Today, his most memorable designs go on display in new, online shoe museum at

The museum, a multimedia presentation, offers a breathtaking retrospective of Weitzman's craftsmanship and artistry. Titled "Shoes as Art," the virtual exhibit features 13 Weitzman originals created between 1961 and the present. Visitors can enter the museum at, or via the Stuart Weitzman Web site (, and begin their walk through Weitzman history.

The museum displays every shoe as unique work of art. As visitors click through the exhibit, each design emerges from an animated background that showcases the shoe as a masterpiece. The exhibit also contains a brief "biography" of each shoe, offering fascinating insight into the story of its creation. Among the many little-known facts included in the museum are the charming inspiration behind "Charlotte's Web," an evening shoe from 1985, and the enormous technological challenges that Weitzman overcame to create the show-stopping "Spindletop" sling-back in 1986.

"Shoes as Art" reveals Weitzman's genius for creating shoes that are trend-setting, yet timelessly elegant. "Eve," a striking evening shoe included in the exhibit looks just as breathtaking in the new millennium as it did in 1979. Like the great masterworks, Weitzman classics never go out of style.
