Troubled clothing retailer Suits You has gone into administration after losing its battle against tough trading conditions and severe cash flow difficulties.

Speciality Retail Group Ltd (SRG), the corporate name for the chain, moved earlier this year to appease its creditors through a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) which led to the closure of the company’s non-profitable stores.

The Leeds-based business has 65 stores across the UK and Ireland, some of which include the Young’s Hire dress wear rental business, and employs about 350 staff.

Peter Holder, Fraser Gray and Stuart Mackellar, partners at recovery specialists Zolfo Cooper, have been appointed as joint administrators to SRG.

They said they would support successful premises which would continue to trade, but would wind down loss-making stores and look to sell on as much of the business and assets as possible.

“Circumstances have been particularly tough for many businesses on the High Street,” said Fraser Gray.

“It’s important that we identify and focus on the more profitable parts of the business, while continuing to streamline the least effective.”
