UK fashion retailer Supergroup has hired former Burberry distribution director Gordon Knox as its new head of logistics.

Knox was responsible for the strategic design and operation of Burberry's distribution centres and global network, as well as overseeing the expansion of its European distribution hub to a large, bonded facility. He also has significant experience of retail distribution in the Far East, the company said.

Prior to Burberry, Knox held a number of logistic roles at catalogue business Argos Ltd.

He will report to Supergroup's chief operating officer Susanne Given, who said Knox's "experience in setting up new distribution hubs will be utilised immediately as we transfer our business over the next year [to a new distribution centre in Burton-on-Trent] and in due course overseas as the Superdry brand, its e-commerce operations and estate expands globally".

Earlier this month Supergroup inked an agreement with Clipper Logistics to fulfil its multi-channel retail activities from a new GBP5m distribution centre in Burton-on-Trent.
