Superior Uniform Group managed to increase its net earnings by 76% for fiscal 2006, despite a dip in sales compared to the previous year.

Net earnings stood at $2.197m compared to $1.244m for the year ended 31 December 2005, while company sales stood at US$127.696m for the year, compared to 2005 sales of $133.312m.

The uniform manufacturer said that it spent 2006 rebuilding its sales base to replace the sales lost as a result of warehouse related service issues in the first half of 2005, but that these service issues were now resolved.

Michael Benstock, chief executive officer, said: "We are very pleased with the progress of our operating results for the current year. Net earnings increased over 76% as a result of our previously announced cost-saving measures as well as continued improvements in our gross margins."
