Career and workwear manufacturer Superior Uniform Group remains confident in its outlook after more than doubling its profit in the third quarter.

Net income reached US$3.4m for the three months to 30 September, compared to $1.5m in the same period of the prior year.

Net sales increased 18.3% to $52.3m from $44.2m last year.

"We are very pleased to once again report greatly improved operating results in the current quarter," said CEO Michael Benstock. "We have continued to capitalise on the positive momentum provided from our acquisition of HPI at the beginning of our 2013 third quarter."

He added: "Our financial position remains very strong, and combined with what appears to be improving demand from our customers and target customers, leaves us feeling optimistic about our prospects for the foreseeable future."
