The first Dhaka Apparel Summit is to take place next week with the objective of opening and furthering dialogue on building responsible supply chains.

The event will take place from 7-9 December at Bangladesh's Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

The summit comes at a time when challenges faced by the industry relating to workplace safety issues have raised global concerns. Indeed, discussions are ongoing with regard to shaping a more sustainable and responsible global supply chain.

The Dhaka Apparel Summit has been organised with the objective of opening and furthering such dialogue to frame a sustainable road map on building responsible supply chains in the textiles and garment sector, organisers say.

A number of panel sessions will feature over the two days, participated by representatives of governments of home and partner countries, international organisations, employers, private sectors, workers' representatives, civil society organisations, brand representatives and buyers, academics and media.
