Trim specialist Tag-It Pacific Inc has reported a 48 per cent jump in third quarter net sales to $16.3 million from $11m in the year-ago period.

The California-based company said earnings per share reached three cents per share for the quarter compared with a loss of three cents per share for the comparable period in 2001.

CEO Colin Dyne commented: "We have achieved a significant increase in sales this quarter compared to the same quarter last year. This is primarily due to an increase in trim-related sales from our Mexico and Hong Kong operations under our Managed Trim Solution trim package and other programs.

"In addition, our Talon International subsidiary has been increasingly successful in becoming an approved zipper vendor for major brands and retailers, including Levi Strauss & Co, which will allow us to increase our sales to these customers."

He added: "We anticipate that sales for the remainder of the year and into next year will improve under our existing customer base and as we begin to sell products under the exclusive supply agreement we entered into with Levi Strauss & Co in July 2002.

"Beginning next year, we plan to roll out our Talon distribution program on a global basis utilising major distributors in over 20 territories."
