Apparel chain Talbots Inc on Thursday announced plans to launch a new line of men’s fashions and stores as it looks to cash in on the lucrative menswear market.

The new line will be supported by a new catalogue with three pilot Talbots Men stores due to open in spring and further stores expected across the country by 2005 if the collections sell well.

Talbots said the stores won’t initially sell suits but classic menswear with many pieces made out of Italian fabrics. Prices are expected to be similar to its current women’s lines.
