Australian general merchandise retailer Target has has named Dene Rogers as its new managing director. He will take up the role from 2 November.

Rogers has been CEO of Sears Canada since 2006. Prior to Sears Canada, he was executive vice president and general manager of Sears-owned Kmart, where he oversaw some 1,500 stores.

He will replace current managing director Launa Inman, who announced her decision to leave the retailer last month.

"We are extremely pleased to have attracted a person of Dene's calibre. He has a track record of driving improved performance through innovation, has broad international experience, and also knows the Australian market," said Richard Goyder, managing director of parent company Wesfarmers.
