Target has been forced to recall over 100,000 boys' and girls' belts because they contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

The recall involves two types of belts: the Cherokee boys' belts and Circo girls' belts.

The Cherokee belts are black and brown reversible belts with heavy stitching in sizes M-XL and sold exclusively at Target stores and on nationwide from December 2008 through December 2009 for between $7 and $9.

The items were manufactured in China.

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled belts and return them to any Target store to receive a full refund," a statement said.
