Indian textile chiefs have invited their US counterparts to set up units in several new apparel parks and form joint ventures in a bid to increase market access for both countries.

"We have suggested measures to increase market access from both sides. This includes asking them to set up units in the upcoming apparel parks in the country," senior Federal Textile Ministry officials told Press Trust of India.

They added that talks had recently been held between Federal Textiles Secretary S B Mohapatra and the US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance, William Lash, but no decision had been made.
