India's ambitious US$15 billion export target for textiles in fiscal 2002-3 is unlikely to be met the federal government admitted today.

The Textiles Ministry has revised its export revenues for the current year to $13 billion, blaming the slowdown in major importing countries like the US and increased competition from other garment producing countries such as China.

Last year's textile exports were 11 per cent below targets, at $10.7 billion.
